Are you discouraged with multiple vevipuncture attempts to place peripheral IV catheter? Are hesitant by hearing "I have no veins, no one can get an IV in me, I have rolling veins" ?
If yes, come and learn to locate veins by palpation and strategies for successful venipuncture. Educators will share their 30+ years hands-on experience with you.
Objectives: Review of vascular access devices used for infusion therapy, overview of hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic solutions, irritant and vesicant drugs, venous anatomy and vein selction, equipment selection, nursing measures to prevention and manage insertion related complications.
Hands-on practice session include vein selection, peripheral catheter insertion and troubleshooting techniques.
| Objectives: Define central venous access devices (CVAD), differentiate tunneled catheters, non-tunneled catheters, implanted ports, PICC and midlines, explain indications for central lines, perform central line flushing, dressing change, perform blood draw through central lines, perform port-a-cath cannulation and de- cannulation, restore CVAD patency with cathflo (Altiplase), integrate practice structures to prevent and manage CVAD complications, and remove non-tunneled catheters. Instructor will demonstrate and Participants get an opportunity to practice procedures using “Chester Chest” mannequin. |
