Objectives include methods of infusion therapy, legal aspects of infusion nursing practice, overview infusion nursing standards of practice, venous anatomy as it applies to IV therapy, short and long term vascular access devices used for intravenous therapy, osmolality and pH of infusates, chemotherapy, vesicant medications, TPN and blood transfusion protocols, vascular access device selection algorithm, IV drip calculation, patient assessment pre, during and post infusion therapy procedures, equipment selection for venipuncture and infusion therapy, instituting local analgesics for PIV insertion , routine care and maintenance of peripheral therapy, CVAD Flushing protocol, CVAD dressing change procedure, accessing and de-accessing port-a-cath, blood specimen collection through CVAD, nursing measures to prevent and manage CVAD complications: malfunction, occlusion, infection, embolism, catheter related blood stream infections, catheter tip migration, deep vein thrombosis, removal of non-tunneled CVAD and PICC, documentation guidelines.

Describe principals of ultrasound technology
Deescribe Ultrasound PIV insertion technique.
Following didactic and demonstration, practice session include usage of an ultrasound to identify and differentiate veins, arteies and never bundle and PIV catheter isertion with an ultrasound on the blue phantom model.
